Construction started in December 2013 on Fonterra's $235 million redevelopment of it is Paihiatua milk processing plant.

COMPLETED SEPTEMBER 2015

Fonterra Paihiatua milk processing plant expansion

The new plant raises the combined production at the site to 140,000 tonnes of whole milk powder. Milk unloaded from a tanker can be processed and bagged as powder in as little as 20 minutes.

All of the milk is drawn from the east coast catchment which stretches from Wairoa to Wellington.

Lattey were involved in the construction of the 40 metre main tower housing the new drier, made from pre-cast concrete panels. The building is supported by over 50 base isolators.

We were able to assist by re-configuring the traditional pile design for the foundations using screw piles. The result was reduced time and cost to construct, and reduced spoil. A win for both the client and the environment.
