1. Civil Project Manager

About the role:
We have an opportunity for a Civil Project Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Civil Manager, the role is primarily responsible for overseeing and managing civil projects from planning through to delivery, ensuring quality, safety and client satisfaction, ensuring that projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget. This role is multi-faceted and requires achieving results through others and therefore includes the effective leadership and management of specific Civil team members.

Your responsibilities:
• Managing civil projects up to 5 million in value
• Leading and mentoring a skilled team
• Planning and scheduling projects to meet deadlines and budgets
• Ensuring health and safety compliance at all times with all workers involved.
• Overseeing contractual, financial and quality assurance requirements including maintaining comprehensive project documentation and accurate project reports and updates.
• Coordinate project program with clients and production team to ensure smooth delivery of the project.
• Preparation of future tenders, quotes and submissions to clients.
• Active participation in relevant meetings including management and toolbox meetings.

Skills and experience required:
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in project management level role, ideally within the construction industry and will also have the following skills:

• 5+ years’ experience as a Project Manager in civil construction
• Strong knowledge of NZ3910 and NZ3916
• Expertise in cost control, financial reporting, and pricing variations
• Knowledge and understanding of Deep Foundation, piling and structures.
• In-depth knowledge of construction procedures and equipment
• Strong operational and organisational skills
• Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal skills and the ability to influence team members positively
• High focus on and good understanding of health and safety requirements
• Exceptional problem-solving skills
• Ability to mentor, support and grow other team members whilst contributing to a high-performance team
• Valid NZ Drivers Licence
• Applicants for the position will need to be legally allowed to work in NZ.

Job details:
• Minimum 47.5 hours/week (Mon-Fri), depending on project demands.
• Travel may be required on occasion based on project location.

Based in Hastings and a precast factory in Levin, we have a proud legacy of over 75 years and a strong pipeline of civil and infrastructure projects.
About the role:
This role is actively hands on and you will be primarily responsible for onsite supervision and/or precast installations on specialised structure projects for our clients. You will be responsible for leading an operational team to deliver work on time, on budget and providing the team with an environment that puts safety and quality first. The role includes being hands on with the team, organising and coordinating plant, equipment, and materials for the project(s) you are assigned to. Good communication between team members, clients and suppliers is essential.

Your responsibilities:

• Managing a small team on site and ensuring safe work practices are followed.
• Being hands-on and jumping in to assist your team directly on site at all times.
• Liaising with the client, other contractors and suppliers.
• Ensuring quality assurance documentation is completed.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects.

This role involves:
• Responsibility for the planning and delivery of projects including understanding and project scope and objectives.
• Managing a small team on site and ensuring safe work practices are followed.
• Being hands-on and jumping in to assist your team directly on site at all times.
• Liaising with the client, other contractors and suppliers.
• Ensuring quality assurance documentation is completed.
• Maintaining a clean and organised work environment.
• Collaborating with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects.​

Skills and experience required:
The ideal candidate will have previous on-site experience in a similar role, and will also have the following skills:
• Minimum 4-5 years’ experience working on a construction site with experience with precast concrete and/or installations.
• Valid NZ driver's license and WTR
• Preferable Class 2
• Preferable but not essential Class 4
• Preferable but not essential Crawler Crane US27676 or Mobile Crane US3795 or Dogman US 3789
• Applicants for the position will need to be legally allowed to work in NZ.

Other attributes:
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions.
• Strong work ethic and a positive attitude towards teamwork.
• High level of knowledge and understanding of the construction process and industry specialising in concrete.
