Celebrating 41 Years of dedication:
John’s journey at Lattey Group.

2025 marks 41 years of service from one of Lattey Group’s most respected and longest-standing team members, John Fisher.

John began his journey with us back in 1984, sstarting as an unskilled labourer. With his leadership skills and high performance, it didn't take long for John to became the Precast Foreman of the company and Lattey’s first qualified precaster.

Employee number 0001. John has been leading Lattey’s precast division longer than all our machinery, plant and people have been here and before some of our staff were born!

From building bridges to installing precast panels and components across Hawke’s Bay and the lower North Island, John has played a hands-on role in shaping the infrastructure of our region. Over the decades, he’s witnessed, and contributed to, significant changes in both the industry and our company.

As one of the first qualified BCITO precasters, John helped set the standard for excellence in precast manufacturing. He’s also mentored and trained countless apprentices, passing on his deep knowledge and practical wisdom to the next generation.

Having worked his way up from unskilled labourer to Project Manager and Estimator, John now serves as our Specialist Project Manager, where his experience and insight are truly invaluable. His ability to assess, plan, and deliver with precision continues to make a lasting impact on our projects and people.

Here are some interesting stats of how much concrete John has been responsible for pouring over four decades. Assuming only one truckload of concrete per day he has supervised over 50,000 m3 of concrete into the moulds. For perspective that’s 20 olympic sized swimming pools of solid concrete or a footpath from Lattey’s Hastings yard to the sky tower in Auckland! If the average precast panel was 6m x 3m x 150 thick he has cast over 18,000 of them! Now that is industry experience.
