In collaboration with the Tararua Alliance, Lattey Group designed and built a new bridge at Rakaiatai Road, north of Dannevirke, in the Tararua region.

The new structure replaces a previous bridge that was washed away during Cyclone Gabrielle.
Lattey Group won the tender with our proposal for a 46-metre single-span structure, to replace the previous 42m twin-span bridge. By removing the need for a central pier, the single-span design provides greater flood resilience.
Local steel supplier East Bridge fabricated the steel super structure which consisted of 1.8m deep x 46m long steel beams. When completed, it became the longest single-span bridge Lattey Group has constructed.
This was a huge milestone for our civil team, and a testament to our ability to find more efficient ways of getting the job done. Lattey’s smart design reduced the time required on site and allowed our team to complete the project in only eight weeks – minimising disruption to the local community, as well as the natural environment.
