How do you place several 6 x 9 metre precast panels weighing up to 13.5 tons in the middle of a busy urban area?

Answer: very carefully and when no one can see you!
It was a pleasure working with our colleagues at Atkin Construction recently, on the Waiapu Anglican Centre site adjacent to Napier Cathedral.
The construction work to re-develop the site includes retaining the original Art Deco façade on Hastings Street (standing propped in position like part of a movie set) and building behind it. Clearly we didn’t want to knock that over.
This project was a huge collaborative effort for all involved as we navigated the logistics of closing Hastings Street in the late evening to allow our 90 ton crane to place the panels.
Working together for the community always fills our cup with joy. Congratulations to all involved!
