Why We Build up our Staff

At Lattey we understand that people are our most valuable asset. We strive to nurture and create talent from within our ranks to provide the future. This not only strengthens the people we are training but also inspires other staff members to become involved.

Currently we have around 6 BCITO Precast Concrete apprentices working their way to a qualification, split evenly between our Hastings and Levin operations. Over the years we have encouraged our staff to complete these qualifications. Our current Precast Foreman Hohepa competed his in January 2012, he has moved up through the ranks in the precast yard, then spent some time detailing panels on AutoCAD and has now been promoted to Precast Foreman.

We have recently taken on a new Cadet, Alicia Flanaghan, who has started her New Zealand Diploma of Civil Engineering. Whilst doing her study Alicia is involved in all aspects of the company from Environmental Science, Civil construction and Precast concrete. On completion of her cadetship, Alicia will follow in Jonty’s (her predecessor) footsteps and specialise in one field, Jonty is now our Civil Contract Manager.

Our current Crane Co-ordinator Adman Chamber started working for Lattey as a Rigger in 2007. Potential in Adam was identified and Adam training to be a Crane Operator, now he leads our Crane operations. More recently we have trained a new crane operator, Shannon Watson who started with us in the Precast Yard.

At Lattey we see that nurturing talent from within the company as a way to develop the future leaders within our company. Investment in our people is essential for the resilience and growth of the company.
